Participants on the post-symposium excursion will travel the 620 km James Bay road, to the town of Radisson, site of the world's largest underground generating station. Along the way, they will discover black spruce forest and taiga ecosystems of Northern Quebec and large areas affected by forest fires. The 3 day excursion includes a visit of the Eastmain-1-A/Sarcelle/Rupert hydroelectric project, the Robert-Bourassa hydroelectric station, the Robert Boyd historical park and a number of stops in natural and managed forests where work conducted by Quebec researchers will be discussed.
